Day 9, More Rocky Mountain.

The road continues on to the continental divide, and out of the park, but we have to turn around at the visitor center and retrace our route out of the park. Jan drives some 40 miles of challenging road so I can rest. I take over just before we reach route 36, just as well because the traffic became intense. Two lanes, bumper to bumper driving at 55-65mph. Not fun. Jan did a great job of navigating, because we had to deviate from our chosen route.

We holed in one at the Airport Holiday Inn where the stamp show is being held. We drove 232 mountain miles.

“Yes Sir, we have your reservation, but we don’t have a no smoking room with two beds, we can offer you smoking or a King.”

I bristle, “ I booked this room four months ago, I will provide you the confirmation number. I expect what I asked for!”

Ice Maiden

Ice Maiden.

“I will go see,” the clerk replies. After about five minutes she returns and simply says “we have one.” Grrrrrrr.

We have dinner in the hotel. The waitress complains about how busy it has been and “Why didn’t they put up a soup and salad bar so you could serve yourselves.” I grin and say nothing.
