Day 7, Grand Tetons.

The Tetons

The Teton mountains are covered with cloud to their waists. At Jenny Lake we have lunch.

Jenny Lake At Moose Visitor Center we see another film telling how Jackson Hole and the Tetons were formed. Two crustal plates moved in opposite directions. One upward to form the mountains; the other down to form the plateau which is Jackson Hole. This is why there are no foothills.

Jenny Lake.

Jackson is an interesting tourist town with covered board walks and small malls. Lots of high end clothing stores like Coldwater & Pendleton, and up-market art shops. We enjoyed window shopping.

Then we found the Elks Lodge. If we could not see the Tetons, then a drink would be the next best thing. My card did not work, but an exiting member held the door for us. The bartender had me sign the visitors register and introduced himself as Alistair. We bought a drink each and received two tokens for a second complimentary one. A nice touch. The décor was reminiscent of our own club with the addition of several gaming machines, a pair of pool tables and a dance floor. I noted in the book they had many visitors. We chatted briefly with a gentleman from Michigan. Time to leave.

We ate Chinese.
